Competency reflection and worked examples

Reflect on a recent opportunity to clarify what a player wanted to accomplish. Record what you did and what the player confirmed or corrected. If there was no opportunity, write that; it is not failure.

Illustrative scenario: a player says, "I distract the guard." Before choosing a procedure, ask, "What do you want the distraction to make possible?" Sneaking past, protecting another character, and starting a conversation can call for different responses. Choosing a roll before understanding the goal can resolve the wrong action.

Knowledge check: what information should you establish before a consequential rules lookup? Work out your answer first, then compare: the game and edition, applicable table agreement, declared action, and relevant fictional conditions. Knowing this answer is different from using it during play.

These openly explained examples are practice material. They produce no proficiency score and are not part of a secure assessment form.
